New Kitten Or Cat

We generally see a kitten 3 to 5 times during his or her youth.  If you have a stray kitty
or if this kitten came from a mom who was not vaccinated, we need to begin at 6
weeks of age, if possible.  At this time, he/she will receive a kitten distemper booster.
What is Feline Distemper?

At 8 weeks of age, we will give a dewormer, another distemper booster, and a Leukemia
booster.  We strongly recommend Feline Leukemia testing at this age.  You can choose to
decline testing, but you MUST know that this is the ONLY way to be sure that your pet is
not carrying the Leukemia virus and this knowledge DETERMINES HOW we respond to any
issues that arise later in life.  What is Feline Leukemia?

At 12 weeks, your kitten will again receive dewormer as well as distemper and leukemia
boosters.

Finally, at 16 weeks of age, your kitten receives his or her last distemper booster and a
1-year Rabies vaccine.  What is Feline Rabies?

When a year has passed, we will give a 3-year Rabies vaccine as well as distemper and
leukemia vaccines.

After that, we will see your pet on an annual basis and give vaccines according to his/her
lifestyle.  If any concerns arise at any time, please call our office.  We're here to help you.
